Observe the value of your cellar

Case

It has been some time since you checked the value development of your wine cellar. This should perhaps be done once a year, all dependent of how important the value is for you. If you are selling or exchanging wine with fellows, this might be essential.

What you do

As an exercise, let’s set a new value for the Don Melchor wine we discussed earlier. You get to the Wine Details quickly.  You are there within 2 seconds since you have done that before.  The value is 800 from previous evaluation. You click on it and get right to the “Set Value Program”. Now you need to find out the current value. As you know, Wine-Searcher is the best site for doing that. You just click on the name “Don Melchior” and whoops, you are at the Wine-Searcher site. Since WineFreak already has copied “Don Melchior” into the clip board, you just need to past it into the “Find and price wines” field at Wine-Searcher, click the search button and then complete  the result with the vintage 2010, and boooom, you see that the current value is 1010, 20% up since last. Now you go back to your “Wine Details” window, update the new value, add a comment and press ”Register”.  That’s all. How many seconds?

If you now choose “Transactions” from the menu, you will see that WineFreak has logged a “Setting value transaction” for this wine, so that you later can trace your value setting backwards.
